The U.S. electric car company will cut an undisclosed number of jobs as part of a modified strategy for China that aims to build a “stronger and more efficient team,” said Gary Tao, a Tesla TSLA, +0.04% spokesman, on Monday. “Some people will go,” he said. Mr. Tao declined to confirm a Chinese media report that 180 employees will lose their jobs. Tesla has struggled to attain traction in China. According to research firm JL Warren Capital, just under 2,500 Teslas were registered in the nine months last year when Tesla was delivering its cars to Chinese customers.
